Why you need a third-party recorder

Audio, formats and recording modes
Audio can be captured as both sides mixed, your microphone only, or the remote party only. The last option gives you the other person's voice on a clean channel with no room noise, which is what you want for transcription. A built-in echo canceller removes speaker bleed when you are not on a headset.
Video calls can be saved as side-by-side landscape, side-by-side portrait, picture-in-picture, or as separate video files - one per participant. In the combined layouts you can swap who appears in the main window while recording continues.
