Evaer for Teams AI Transcription: Text as You Record

Evaer for Teams can now transcribe a meeting while it is being recorded. The text is written as people speak, so when the call ends the transcript is already there – no upload, no processing queue, no extra step. The model runs on your own PC, so the audio never leaves the machine.

Turn it on once: Tools > AI transcription in the Evaer menu. Choose the language, record as usual, and the text is saved next to the video.

What it does

While Evaer records the call, it also converts the speech into text. You get two things:

  • A plain text transcript – the meeting as readable text, for notes, minutes or pasting into a document.
  • A timestamped transcript – each line marked with the time it was said, exportable as SRT for use as subtitles.

Because transcription happens during the recording rather than after it, a two-hour meeting does not mean waiting another two hours for the text.

Why it runs on your PC

Most transcription services send the audio to a server. Evaer does not. The model runs locally, on the same machine that is recording.

This matters for the same reason local recording matters. A customer reading out account details, an interview with a confidential source, a medical call – none of it should leave the machine just to be turned into text. Keeping it local also means the feature works without an internet connection, and there is no per-minute transcription fee.

How to turn it on

  1. Update Evaer for Teams. Older builds do not have the menu entry – check Help > About for your version.
  2. Open the Evaer menu and go to Tools > AI transcription.
  3. Choose the language that is spoken in the meeting.
  4. Record the call as usual. The text is written while you record.
  5. Stop the recording. The transcript is saved next to the video file, and the timestamped version can be exported as SRT.

Mixed-language meetings

If people switch languages mid-call, expect the text to degrade around the switch.

What you can do with it

  • Meeting notes without typing – read the transcript, keep the decisions and numbers, delete the rest.
  • Subtitles – export the SRT and drop it into your video editor.
  • Searchable recordings – find the exact moment something was said instead of scrubbing a timeline.
  • Accessibility – colleagues who are deaf or hard of hearing get the meeting in text, and anyone can read a meeting they missed instead of watching it.

A note on consent

Transcription does not change the rules on recording. Some countries and several US states require everyone’s consent, others only one party’s. Check what applies to you before you record.

Quick answers

Does AI transcription send my audio to a server?

No. The model runs on your own PC: the audio is processed locally and the transcript is saved locally. It also works without an internet connection.

Where do I turn it on?

In the Evaer menu under Tools > AI transcription. If the entry is missing, update Evaer for Teams first – older builds do not include the feature.

Do I get the transcript during the call or after it?

During. Evaer transcribes while it records, so the text is ready when you stop recording rather than after a separate processing step.

What output do I get?

A plain text transcript and a timestamped version that can be exported as SRT subtitles. Both are saved alongside the recording.
